Pig Tracking and Pig Signals

CD42 Pig Tracking System

The CD42 pipeline pig location and tracking system is the most sophisticated, accurate and simplest to use in the world. Designed from the ground up for the pigging industry, the CD42-K1 system gives a pipeline operator a simple, graphical menu system, and a display that reveals the distinctive pulsing pattern of a passing pig. These same productivity-enhancing features allow for significantly faster and more precise location of stationary pigs as well.

CD42
Main features of the CD42 System:

  • When pig passages are detected, their count, location, time and date are stored in the computer's memory.
  • A pig passage can be recalled from memory for viewing, report printing, or transferring to desktop PCs.
  • The operator can get assistance with many functions by using the built-in help menu.
  • The graphics screen is backlit for readability in dim light, blanks to save energy, and automatically reactivates when pig passages are detected.
  • Built-in speakers are used to indicate pig passages, transmitter pulses, button presses, etc.
  • The stainless steel chassis is designed to endure rough pipeline conditions, is water resistant, and has both serial and printer ports built-in.
  • The receiver has a rated battery life of 40 hours minimum with all options on, including the backlight.
  • Systems software can be upgraded to new versions as they become available.

GeoEar Tracking System

The GeoEAR allows an operator to hear extremely faint sounds at great distances. It can amplify the sound of an approaching pipeline pig's cups striking the welds of a pipe to an easily discernible level, and under normal circumstances a pig can be heard approaching for several miles.

GeoEar Tracking System
Main features of the GeoEAR System:

  • Consists of a geophone probe which is stuck into the ground in close proximity to the pipeline, the GeoEAR electronic unit itself, and the headphones.
  • All of these components fit conveniently into the GeoEAR's tough, waterproof carrying case.
  • Using the system is a simple process of opening the unit, removing the geophone probe, inserting it into the soil near the pipeline and plugging it into the GeoEAR. If headphones are being used instead of the built-in speaker, the operator plugs them in and adjusts the volume to his liking. Simple!
  • Momentarily squelches output to the headphones and built-in speaker is the geophone is jarred or moved suddenly so an operator doesn't need to worry about painfully loud sounds that will be produced by the system for any reason.
  • Self-contained 4-inch speaker that can allow a group to listen to sounds, or can give the operator added "hands-free" mobility.
The GeoEAR is a fast, east, and economical way to perform simple pipeline pig tracking. For more information about the GeoEAR please contact us.

Non-Intrusive Pig Signals

Magna Sygg

The Magna-Sygg

The Magna-Sygg can be strapped to the surface of a pipe in less than five minutes or it can be used as a portable detector which can be used to actuate a range of devices from simple manual reset flags to Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. In addition to trap duty, the detector can be placed to verify pig passage through tees, valves, elbows or any "trouble spot". Since the Magna-Sygg does not penetrate the pipe wall neither the structural integrity nor the flow efficiency of the pipeline will be compromised. Equipped with the proper reusable magnetic cartridge, any pig or sphere will be easily detected.

Bandit

The Bandit

The Bandit is an extremely versatile permanent installation device for the detection of pipeline pig passages anywhere within a pipeline network. Simply strap the Bandit anywhere onto your existing pipeline and it will immediately begin detecting and recording the times and dates of either permanent magnet or transmitter equipped pigs. The Bandit is non-intrusive to the pipeline, explosion-proof, and is capable of bi-directional detection and even sending Internet email upon pig passages!

Intrusive Pig Signals

Maloney Series III

Maloney Series III is designed for use in both conventional pipeline and meter prover service. This pig signal is easy to operate, has a wide pressure range, bi-directional detection and a factory pre-set detector switch. All metal parts (except the scarfed welding base) are made of stainless steel to retard wear and aging. Provides bi-directional detection. The Series II Detector cannot be removed while under pressure.

Maloney Series III

Accessories include:

  • Switch assembly (calibrated or non-calibrated)
  • Hermetically sealed electrical switch assembly (calibrated or non-calibrated)
  • Visual indicator to indicate the passage of a sphere or pig
  • Digital Counter automatically registers passage providing instant reference; five-digit counter can be manually reset to zero
  • Pneumatic pilot valve assembly for installations where electrical power is not available
  • Sphere Here extension to extend the detector above ground on buried pipelines

PigSig IV

PigSig IV surpasses all previous models due to its simplicity and modular concept. This field rugged and reliable indicator is available in four configurations:

  • Visual flag indicator manual reset
  • Visual rotary cap manual reset
  • Electrical signal automatic reset
  • Combination electrical signal automatic reset and visual flag manual reset
